Petaled / bloomednews.com — Last updated: June 2025
This policy explains what data Petaled collects when you read, subscribe, or otherwise interact with bloomednews.com, how we use it, and what you can do about it. Read it. It matters.
What We Collect
Two categories, no surprises:
Information you give us directly.
If you contact us, submit a tip, or sign up for any newsletter or account, we collect what you hand over — name, email address, and whatever else you include in the message or form.
Information collected automatically.
Every time you load a page, our servers and third-party tools record: your IP address, device type, operating system, browser, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. This happens by default on essentially every website on the internet. Ours is no exception.
Cookies & Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking identifiers. Here is what each category does:
Strictly necessary cookies. These keep the site functional — things like load-balancing and security tokens. You cannot opt out of these without breaking the site, and we have no interest in asking you to.
Analytics cookies. These tell us which articles get read, how long people stay, and where traffic comes from. The data is aggregated and used to make editorial decisions. We want to know what you find worth reading.
Advertising cookies. These are placed by our ad partners (see the next section) to serve ads, measure their performance, and — in many cases — tailor ads to your inferred interests. You can control these. Details below.
Your browser's cookie settings are the first lever to pull if you want to limit any of this.
Advertising & Third Parties
Petaled is supported by advertising. Ads pay for the journalism. That is the deal, and we are straightforward about it.
Third-party advertising partners — including ad networks, supply-side platforms (SSPs), and measurement vendors — operate on this site. They set their own cookies and use device identifiers to deliver ads, measure whether those ads worked, and build interest-based profiles used for personalized (behavioral) advertising. These partners operate under their own privacy policies, which govern what they do with data they collect.
Under US state privacy laws (including the CCPA and CPRA), some of this data sharing constitutes a sale or sharing of personal information. We do not apologize for the business model, but we do tell you about it and give you tools to limit it:
- Browser controls. Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- Industry opt-out tools. Visit optout.aboutads.info (DAA) or youronlinechoices.com (EDAA for UK/EU readers) to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating networks.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC). We honor GPC signals. If your browser or extension sends a GPC opt-out, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising.
Note: opting out of personalized ads does not mean you will see no ads. It means the ads you see will be less targeted.
Your Rights & How to Exercise Them
EEA and UK residents (GDPR / UK GDPR).
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to restrict or object to processing; and to data portability. Where we process data on the basis of consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
US residents (CCPA / CPRA and similar state laws).
You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it; to delete your personal information; to correct inaccurate data; to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising; and to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
To make any privacy or data request, email us at hello@bloomednews.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law — and usually faster.
Retention & Security
We keep personal data only as long as it serves a legitimate purpose or is required by law. We apply standard technical and organizational security measures. No system is impenetrable; we maintain reasonable safeguards and will notify you as required if something goes wrong.
Children
Petaled is a general-audience publication, is not directed to children under 13, and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. Check back occasionally — it is a short read.
